Baby Kayla and Baby Jaelyn

On Wednesday we had quite a scare.  I have been having braxton hicks contractions (these are normal throughout pregnancy as long as they are not occuring at regular intervals, do diasappear when you change positions, and do not increase in intensity).  On Wednesday I noticed that they were occuring every 15 minutes and some were causing pain and felt like real contractions.  So Mike and I headed to the hospital to get it checked out.  They hooked me up to a monitor and after a half hour we found out that the contractions were not every 15 minutes but instead every 2 to 5 minutes.  Needless to say we were shocked.  The Dr checked to see if I was dialating, I was not thankfully!  They also checked for a hormone that is present during labor and that came back negative.  They pumped me full of fluids, in hopes that I was dehydrated and was the reason for the contractions.  But nope, all it did was fill me up. The doctor sent us home with a note to keep me out of work due to preterm labor. I did not expect this at all.  I am still having contractions but they were not as intense as when I was working.

So here we sit watching movies and waiting for Daddy to come home from a business trip in Chicago.  While he as been away we have been surrounded by so many helpful hands.  My parents, Aunt Jessie, and Memere have all been around making sure I am staying put and helping out with Ella.  I am so lucky to have such a wonderful family.

I went for an ultrasound on Thursday to check Kayla's growth at this point.  She is weighing in at a very health 5 lbs 4 oz by their estimations.  Here is a picture they gave me of her from that day.  It was so reassuring to see her.

In addition to the craziness here, Aunt Shelley and Uncle Danny have had her own craziness.  Michelle was not due until January 16th.  She had baby Jaelyn a week ago.  She was born at 27 weeks and weighed just under 2 pounds.  So tiny.  She is doing well and getting stronger everyday.  I have not been able to see her yet because I had a reoccuring sinus infection.  But as soon as I am all cleared up I will be able to.
